REVIEW OF ''OF THE MOMENT'' by C. LEE

It's been 7 years since Sam released her last album. Her fans have had a LONG wait for this CD. Of the Moment is a good effort. It is quite near to 43 Minutes in style which is great as 43 Minutes was a brilliant album. The first track 'Loveless' is a stunning tune. 'Do right by her' 'Void' and 'You'd think id know by now' are also really well done. 'Satellite' is also one of the best songs Sam has ever done but unfortunately the recorded studio version for this album does not come close to the emotion and passion that she performs it with live. I heard Sam sing 'Satellite' at the Bush Hall in London back in 2003 and the energy of the song amazed me. The vocal is quite watered down on this version and the track sounds much better with just piano and Sam's brilliant voice. As does 'Walk with Me'. Sam is without a doubt a better singer live than on her recordings but this is still a quality album all the same. When she puts her mind to it not many can sing as good as her. Please release a live CD of your one woman show Sam. Enjoy.

April Moon is the second album by U.K. singer/songwriter Sam Brown. The album contained 'With A Little Love' and 'Kissing Gate' - both minor hits in the U.K, Europe and Australia. Further singles lifted from the album were 'Once In Your Life', 'Mindworks' and 'As One'. Videos were made for all but the last of the singles.
David Gilmour of Pink Floyd sings on the track 'Troubled Soul' (he had also appeared on Brown's debut album).
The album sold over half a million copies worldwide.

43 Minutes is the title of Sam Brown's third album.

The album was rejected by Brown's record label A&M as being uncommercial. Undeterred; Brown chose to release the album on her own Pod label - and as such; the album has become a firm favourite with fans who cite it as her strongest album in her portfolio. As Brown explains:

"My mum died in June 1991. While she was ill I started writing 43 Minutes and the main lesson I learnt was a record's no use to anybody unless you believe in what you're doing. All I want to do is sit down and write songs at the piano, not think about copying Stop and having hits, which everyone wanted me to do at the time. 43 Minutes is the first album that really represents me. It's not directly about my mother's death, but it is a whole piece and very fierce. Pete produced it and I basically said, "Don't change anything, this is how it is. It really homed in on what I thought, what death chucks up at you. So many people go through that experience and you're not supposed to talk about it. Well, how the fuck are you supposed to deal with it if you can't talk about it?'' Wikipedia
Entirely self-penned; the album was written around the time of Brown's mother's death.
Only one single was lifted from the album, 'Fear Of Life'.
