2003 BBC Omnibus documentary on the early days of Pink Floyd. The focus of the film is Syd Barrett, the charismatic and brilliant lead guitarist of the early Pink Floyd, who created their unique psychedelic sound and all the band's early songs, including the singles "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play" and much of their first album The Piper At The Gates of Dawn.

Syd Barrett’s name passed into rock folklore when he quit Pink Floyd in 1968 and, after two extraordinary but erratic solo albums, disappeared from music altogether amid rumours of a drug-induced breakdown.

This film goes inside and behind WISH YOU WERE HERE, Pink Floyd's 1975 follow-up album to the monstrously successful DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, and shows the band's artistic progression after the sound and fury of sudden superstardom. The album--in particular the song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"--was a tribute to their lost leader, Syd Barrett (who famously burnt out in an LSD-induced nervous breakdown). This release features footage of Pink Floyd on tour for the album, and also uses interviews and critical analysis to better understand this crucial moment in the band's history. Wish You Were Here was released in September 1975 as the follow up to Dark Side Of The Moon - a pretty hard act to follow, but in many respects this amazing new album outshone its illustrious predecessor.
