This is the legendary unreleased documentary of the Stones' 1972 North American tour. Shot largely on cine film, this is not one for those expecting a high-def DVD rip. It is, however, a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the Rolling Stones on tour. This is the best quality copy I have seen.

Godard's documentation of late 1960's western counter-culture, examining the Black Panthers, referring to works by LeRoi Jones and Eldridge Cleaver. Other notable subjects are the role of the media, the mediated image, A growing technocratic society, Womens Liberation, the May revolt in France and the power of language.
(Jean-Luc Godard filme des scènes de contestations politiques avec des membres des Black Panthers, montées en parallèle avec des séances d'enregistrement des Rolling Stones. Il suit en particulier la création de la chanson Sympathy for the devil, en alternance avec des scènes de révolution à l'extérieur du studio. En dépassant les limites du genre par un montage original, Godard restitue les réalités de la composition de la musique rock et permet ainsi d'approcher la musique au travail, en pleine création. La veine militante est aussi un des fils conducteurs de ce film-puzzle, montrant les liens entre création artistique et utopie sociale.)
