DOGS
The group is so called in reference to the numerous titles of songs which he liked containing the word dog. While taking back titles of Flamin ' Groovies, Kinks, or Velvet Underground, they begins fast to write their own personal compositions in English. The first concerts take place to the casino of Saint-Valery-en-Caux, and diverse places of the Norman coast.
In 1974, Dogs passes in the "Golf Drouot" in Paris, where their participation is relatively enlivened. In this opportunity, Philippe Manœuvre writes enthusiastically the first laudatory article in the "Rock and folk" musical magazine on this famous concert.
Others concert take place in Little Bob Story's first part, then the other illustrious representative of the high-Norman rock scene.
In January, 1978, they register their first one 45 rpm ( 3 title) with Charlie was a good boy, No Way, Nineteen, on the label in Rouen Melodies Massacres.
( There was the other one 45 rpm of the label Melody Massacres in 1978. One 5 titles named "Go where you want to go" with "Teenage fever, Go where you want to go, Here come my baby, My life, You' re gonna loose me..."
During the next years, Dogs occurs essentially in France, in Europe and in Japan, and realize about ten albums studios. They are determinedly situated except fashion during all these years, composing a rock and roll without concessions sung in English. Dominique Laboubée will make also diverse collaborations (among others on the Louise Féron's magnificent album), productions and writing for the other artists (Cesium, Tony Truant, Chainsaw).
In 2001 takes out a public recording (shorts, Fast and Tight). Their sales of records always remained average in France, but their reputation and their influence on the French rock scene was very important, claimed by Thugs, for example.
On October 9th, 2002, Dominique Laboubée, creator, singer, composer, instrumentalist of the group, collapses on stage during a tour in the United States, to Worcester, Massachusetts, and dies at 45 years old.
In 2006 appears a collection of twenty two new Stories of The Dogs - Stories for Dominique, tribute to Dominique Laboubée and to Dogs through news and narratives inspired by their directory and written by authors of whodunit (editions Krakoen). At the same time a double CD of forty eight occasions of the directory of Dogs completes this tribute Stories Of The Dogs - Songs For Dominique (http: // tributedogs.emotropie.info).
Since July 12th, 2007, the place of the street Massacres in Rouen, situated in front of the former record dealer "Melodies Massacre" is named " Place Dominique Laboubée, composer-songwriter, 1957-2002 ".
