Psychedelic blues and jazz-infused spoken word, featuring some of the brightest stars in New Orleans: The Neville Brothers' Willie Green, Tim Green, Irene Sage, Dave Easley and James Singleton. <CDbaby>

"Revelator," is a mix of spoken word and vocals over hypnotic instrumentals steeped in blues, jazz and Cajun rhythms. The album's title track, which also appeared on 2008's "Like I Said, Yeah, U Right," is the centerpiece. Robicheaux engages in a call and response with Irene Sage, who provides a gorgeous gospel-laced counterpoint to his raspy vocals.
A sparse jazzy backdrop and Robicheaux's narrative, all spoken, sound like they should be used as the soundtrack of a Raymond Chandler novel, which is fitting considering the song chronicles Robicheaux's move as a young man to San Francisco. He wasn't prepared for the big city, but he adapted and his patter mirrors the haze of the drug culture he navigated. "Magic Man," another spoken word song, moves back to Louisiana and explores the voodoo culture of his native New Orleans.
