An accomplished saxophonist and composer out of Los Angeles, “Coming Home” marks David Samartin’s debut as a solo recording artist. An original combination of jazz and R&B, David’s compositions emphasize soulful grooves and intoxicatingly melodic improvisations. “Coming Home” also features some of the most sought-after musicians in Los Angeles including Tim Kobza, Brandon Coleman, Joey Finger and the late Linda Martinez. Critics have dubbed this album “smooth jazz with soul” and David is being credited with rejuvenating the smooth jazz sound.

David Samartin is an in-demand saxophonist in the Los Angeles jazz scene. Artists that he has lent his diverse talents to include Jeff Goldblum and Peter Weller’s The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, James Torme, Jon B, J’Nae, Angel Travis, Sal Marquez, Anthony Wilson, Jack Sheldon, Bobby Caldwell, and the Cross/Hart Jazz Experience.

Originating from Dallas, Texas, David Samartin was brought up in a musical family and was introduced to jazz by his sax-playing father. David attended the famed Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and continued on to graduate from the prestigious University of North Texas Music Conservatory. During his career in Dallas, David performed with various talents including Joe McBride, James Clay, Marshel Ivery, Roy Hargrove, Tim Hagans, and Eric Scortia.
