In case you missed it, the Dandy Warhols are releasing a new album in August, Earth To The Dandy Warhols, and the promotional machine is in full swing. The band are giving away a remix album, starting July 19th, at independent record stores to celebrate the release (and, of course, lure people in).

With remixes by each of the Dandy Warhols themselves, the EP not only introduces material from the their upcoming album, ...Earth To The Dandy Warhols... (on the band's very own Beat The World Records), it also shows off their musical versatility. The remixes move from spacey dub to edgy electronica but are never forced or insincere: the spirit and energy of the original song is always maintained, it's only the immediate presentation that's changed.

The Dandy Warhols are a rock band formed in Portland, Oregon by Courtney Taylor-Taylor (vocals, guitar), Zia McCabe (keyboard), Peter Holmstr÷m (guitar), and Eric Hedford (drums). When Hedford left in 1998, Taylor-Taylor's cousin Brent De Boer replaced him as drummer. The band's name is a play on the name of pop artist Andy Warhol.

The Dandy Warhols are strongly influenced by The Velvet Underground, Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, The Shadows, The Rolling Stones and The Brian Jonestown Massacre as well as including implicit musical references to My Bloody Valentine in some songs. Front man Courtney Taylor-Taylor describes the band beginning as a group of friends who "needed music to drink to."

...Earth to the Dandy Warhols... is their sixth album.
