The Exploited are a Scottish punk band from the second wave of UK punk, formed in 1979.
They started out as an Oi! band, before transforming into a faster street punk and hardcore punk band, only with a heavy political influence. From about 1987 on (around the time of Death Before Dishonour) they changed into a crossover thrash band. Formed in Edinburgh by ex-soldier Wattie Buchan (nicknamed Twattie Wattie), they signed to Secret Records in March 1981 and released their debut EP Army Life. The album Punks Not Dead followed in the same year. Despite many lineup changes, the band continued into the 2000s and has developed a worldwide following. The band are currently writing material for a new album.

Originally issued in 1981, Punks Not Dead was the Exploited's first full-length album. They'd issued singles like "Army Life" and "Exploited Barmy Army" previously, and those were re-recorded for what was hailed and/or reviled as a jagged, messy, and more aggressive reaction to the punk "establishment" of the time. The mix of hate and love toward the Exploited was fine by vocalist Wattie Buchan and his revolving cast of bandmembers -- they just wanted a reaction, to get people to really listen. Tracks like "S.P.G.," "Out of Control," and "I Believe in Anarchy" were mush-mouthed dynamos of chanting, ranting, and ragged song structure, early templates of the U.S. hardcore scene to come.

Troops of Tomorrow is one of the landmark punk albums to come from Britain. This album is connected to the Exploited possibly more than any other. It came directly after their legendary Top of the Pops performance, and several of these songs would go on to be covered by Slayer and Ice-T for the Judgment Night soundtrack. It may not have the hooks of the Damned or the clever lyrics of the Sex Pistols, but in its place they brought a brainless rage that has been one of the sore points for punk purists for years. Songs like "Sid Vicious Was Innocent" and the uninformed "War" are blatantly idiotic, but work on an entirely different level. These songs are from the gut, and honestly, they were just following in the footsteps of American punk, which had thrown cleverness out the window from the get-go. The thrashing guitars and chugging riffs would go on to influence countless bands, from like-minded American artists like SOD and Agnostic Front to fellow British hardcore heroes Discharge. The lyrics are mostly just politically inspired chanting, but the music laid the groundwork for most of the punk metal that followed. Fans of aggressive hardcore punk should try to add this to their collection. It is a classic of the genre that has held up well through the years.

Let's Start a War, or Let's Start a War... (Said Maggie One Day), is the third album by the punk rock band The Exploited, released in 1983 through Pax Records [PAX 18]. The title refers to Margaret Thatcher's decision to go to war over the Falkland Islands in 1982, suggesting that she did so almost on a whim. The controversial war was fodder for many protest songs in the punk movement.

If you are trying to get into the exploited, this is probely the one. It is before they went to thrash, but late enough so that the band has devoloped themselves enough. The Exploited were the first true street punk band. They were exactly what punk needed. Back in the late seventees and early eighties punk was on a decline. Crass had already declared punk dead, the clash was relesing reggae tunes and Devo and Elvis Costello were being considered punk. The Exploited come saying punk is NOT dead and realese a fury like no one had experianced before. I mean these were the days which the craziest thing on the scene was the Sex Pistols. I love the Sex Pistols, they are one of the greatest punk bands ever, but the exploited had a heavier sound that delivered a barrage of power punk like nothing before it, and the Sex Pistols had a seventies sound . The seventies sound was usually a snotty voice with three power chord songs. The Exploited brought on the new age of punk. They gave the go ahead for bands to scream and play fast and be agressive. I'm not going to say that the Exploited founded the eighties scene, they obviously didn't, black flag had been around since 77, but there sound was powerful and showed what punk could be, and definatly helped bring on the eighties scene. Every Street punk band of today (unseen, casualties, virus, cheap sex, krays, blanks 77, devotchkas, lower class brats) basically recreated the exploited's sound in there own way. They may not be the fathers of punk but no question they are the fathers of street punk.

Horror Epics is fourth album by the punk rock band The Exploited, released in 1985 through Konexion. The title track refers to the horror of starvation in the third world, and westerners tendency to look away.
REVIEW OF ''HORROR EPICS'' by Corviderrant/Encyclopaedia Metallum
This was one of the last really good albums by Edinborough's finest punk export, and one of the first albums of theirs I bought years ago. It can be safely said that their buzzbomb hobnailed boot approach made an impression, because years after the fact this album still packs a mighty pissed off wallop. They were everything but resting on their laurels and it showed in their furious delivery of some of their best songs to date as well as a tad of experimentation that fit pretty well, actually.
With loud, clean production that no doubt had the punk purists howling "Sellout!" indignantly (~censored~ 'em), this album still dominates with its alternating furious blasts of noisy punk mania and slower, more considered songs that are more deliberate in their delivery. Of course they still are angry as all hell and Wattie Buchan is far from a soft and sensitive New Age crooner. His nettled yelling and thick Scots accent adds an extra edge of authenticity to their headlong musical charge and his lyrics are simple and direct, littered with profanity and getting right to the point most of the time. How can you mistake a song like "I Hate You" with lyrics like "Went to a party, caught you ~censored~ my mate!/I hate you!" for anything other than what it is?
The title track starts things off with an ominous bass line that is soon joined by thunderous tribal drumming and ends up being one of the more atmospheric songs on here (this is a relative term, naturally) with its menacing vibe and Wattie's bellowing the verses about Third World countries starving to death and nobody giving a damn making you take note. The chorus is more subdued and shows Wattie speaking the lyrics and assuring people that they are unable to handle truth being worse than fiction before roaring "YOU CAN'T STAND IT, THE HORROR EPICS!!!"
The rest of the album, as I said, alternates between slower, more structured tunes ("My Life", "Forty Odd Years Ago", for example) and their usual violent thrash mania ("I Hate You", "Don't Forget The Chaos", "Maggie"). "Maggie" in particular is a barbed and nasty full-on attack on then-British PM Margaret Thatcher, coming out and saying it flat out on the chorus: "MAGGIE!!! Maggie, ya ~censored~!!!" and Wattie adds the capper by drawling "Fook yoo, Maggeh!" at the end. "Don't Forget The Chaos" is another standout with its anti-war/anti-nukes message and frenzied blitz as well as some gnarled lead guitar noise."My Life" is the slowest song on the album, featuring more tribal drumming and dominant bass lines over Wattie's declaration of his independence from the system, and it is far from mellow, instead tense and angry (what else are the Exploited if not angry?) as he bellows away enthusiastically.
Damned if this isn't a classic and essential piece of punk rock history. But be punk and don't take my word for it; get it, find out for yourself, and make your own damn mind up.

Death Before Dishonour is the fifth Studio album by the Scottish Punk rock band The Exploited. It was released on April 15, 1987 through Rough Justice Records. With this release, The Exploited moved to a more Crossover thrash direction. This album was re-released on June 19, 2001 on Spitfire Records and contained an additional seven tracks.
This was the bands fifth studio album, originally released in 1987 and an Indie Chart Top 20 smash.
The seven bonus tracks include the ultra rare ''Jesus Is Dead'' and ''War Now'' 12'' singles and we've also included the lyrics to all the songs alongside sleeve notes by ''Burning Britain'' author Ian Glasper. Totally remastered, this is the DEFINITIVE version of this album.

What’s speedier than a desert prison bound meth-head, more left-wing than Ted Nugent, and crustier than your underwear after a Mexican food binge? If you guessed your mom, you are probably correct. But Alex Trebek will also accept who are The Exploited.
Here’s the summary: Exodus with Johnny Rotten’s drunk and pissed Scottish cousin on vocals. Interested? Then adjust your monocle, make a harumpf noise, and scan on, dear reader.
Yes indeed, this is a fine slab of sweet crossover (yeah I know the strict definition of crossover probably doesn’t apply) from 1996 – hard to believe that was over ten years ago, right? The band themselves have been around since 1979, which must make for some droopy wrinkly Mohawks these days. ~censored~, they’re lucky to still have any follicular integrity at all. Imagine how embarrassing it must be to have a giant multicolored hairdo then realize you’re balding in the back? Its enough to make you start wholeheartedly embracing rampant consumerism.
Anyway, take the basic musical template of “Tempo of the damned”, speed it up a bit, and add some more not-too-deep political lyrics and you’ve got “Beat the bastards”. Nice, grooving speed/thrash with plenty of memorable choruses and a spiffy production job. This disc is quite close to me as it is one of the first I enjoyed as a budding metalhead who still nursed an unhealthy affinity for punk. The two meld quite well on “Beat the bastards”, like if someone melted down the various evil Terminators and threw in a small piece of Lenin’s preserved brain. The resulting Commie machine might make even Obayma ~love~ his pants.
I can highly recommend the title track (guess what the chorus is?), the bass heavy and totally rocking “Don’t blame me”, the ever-so-true fact that there’s a “Law for the rich” and a law for the people like you and me, the groovyasshit “System ~censored~ up”, and the meanspirited “Serial Killer (sample lyric – child cries, pedophile ~censored~ you). All around this is a great motivator to get out your aggression at the soon-to-be-canceled ruling class over a pint of bitter. On a side note, I’ll bet these would be some fun ~censored~ dudes to knock back a couple lukewarm beers and embrace the working class ethos with on a Saturday night.
Too bad their next album was a total and complete ~love~ retread of what the Scots achieved here. Seriously horrendous. So enjoy the band whilst they were in their prime.
A bourgeois 8.5 out of 10 for these ancient sacks of haggis in 1996 at least.

F**k the System is an album by the hardcore punk band The Exploited, released in 2003 by Spitfire Records. Ironically, this album was available in the US in a "clean version" with its anti-authoritarian title censored to "F*** the System" and edits made to the tracks themselves. The production value of this CD is much higher than their earlier work.
F**k the System is also a song by System of a Down from their album Steal This Album!, the title of a book written by Abbie Hoffman, published in 1967, the name of a p**n film by Rob Rotten, and the title of a hardstyle track by Showtek
Samples from The Crow are used in the song "Chaos is my life".
