Tony Levin (1995) - World Diary
On this record, he collaborates with musicians from around the world, showcasing his ability to
blend with other musical styles while still making musical statements of his own. He also plays
a lot of Stick, the electronic guitar/bass hybrid he made famous.

(2000) - Waters Of Eden
"Waters of Eden" differ from "World Diary" quite a lot, but Levin has succeeded in maintaing
the excellent level with which he started his solo career.
What changed is that Levin himself composed all the tracks here and almost all the tracks feature
bass/stick as the main lead instrument. The compositions are more melodic and intricate. Most of
the album is calm and pleasant to listen. Also, there are a few great guitar parts (guitar was
actually missing in "World Diary"), so the album sound more rock-like. Nevertheless, the world
and exotic elements are still present.
"Waters Of Eden" has a much more personnal feeling than its predecessor "World Diary". More
traditionnal instruments are used this time: bass, drums, guitar, piano/synth. The music -
more rock oriented - is much more melodic and less technical.

(2001) - Pieces Of The Sun
Pieces of the Sun is, predictably, wholly unpredictable, with Levin and his 2001 touring band lighting
into a set of headphone-melting instrumentals best described as pulsing prog-rock built on the kind of
awesome playing that, in a concert setting, attracts packs of drooling amateurs to the stage to watch
the musician's hands. "Dog One", an unreleased recording with Gabriel, appears rerecorded here as a jittery,
piano-and-guitar speckled opus with muffled call-and-response vocals, while the percussive "Tequila" shines
the spotlight on a mournful tenor sax before turning things over to ambient synth and lazy electric guitar.
With the exception of the languid and loose closing track, "Silhouette," everything on Pieces of the Sun
feels urgent, with Levin once again acquitting himself and his generation of charges of stagnation.

Tony Levin Band (2002) - Double Espresso (2CD)
The King Crimson, Peter Gabriel bass veteran and his talented band; keyboardist Larry Fast, guitarist Jerry Gress
and drummer Jerry Marotta put out an unbelievably tight sound in concert and their no slouches in the studio either.
The disc was recorded live at Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York (with the exception of great cover of
Peter Gunn, which was recorded in St. Louis). Most of the live tracks were off of Levin's two solo projects;
"Waters of Eden" and "pieces of the sun". The band covers two King Crimson tracks; "Elephant Talk" and Sleepless
and also does an outstanding rendition of Genesis' "Back in NYC" with Marotta doing an excellent job on vocals.

(2005) - Prime Cuts
"T & T Vignette" is a treat, an unreleased track from the Black Light Syndrome sessions, featuring Levin and
another pioneer, Terry Bozzio, who together create a probing collage of sounds. An appropriate title we have
in "Another Dimension", one culled from the repertoire of Liquid Tension Experiment2. Again, Tony stretches
the boundaries of Stick and bass to achieve the required intensity, balancing himself against Mike Portnoy,
John Petrucci, and Jordan Rudess. Check out the brilliant shift from a probing ostinato to a flamenco-Argentinean
folkloric passage (roughly 6:22).
"Dark Corners" is a remix from the Bozzio Levin Stevens album Sonic Residue From Vapourspace produced by Mark Gage.
Vapourspace’s Gage captures the symbiosis that is so integral to this ensemble and spotlights the sonic side trips
to the nether regions that provide a foil to the pressing rhythmic motifs.
From Magellan’s album Hundred Year Flood, "Brother’s Keeper", begins pastoral—it could be Steeleye Span—until Levin
enters with a gaunt, growling bass line that signals the Industrial Revolution! Trent Gardner, Wayne Gardner,
and Joe Franco match Levin’s ferocity. Take note of how Levin maintains a consistent, top-of-the-beat surging
where others might tend to drag.
"Endless", from Bozzio Levin and Stevens’ Situation Dangerous presents numerous interesting facets. One of these
rears up at 6:26 and features Levin holding down a plundering tonality and unflinching groove in what seems to be
a 9/8 time signature. In typical Levin style he maintains a selfless balance, letting Stevens soar while staying
himself grounded.

(2007) - Stick Man
2007 release from King Crimson bassist and studio maverick Tony Levin. Stick Man , his fifth solo outing, is
a breakthrough in numerous ways. It features the Chapman Stick (in addition to his basses) in ways it hasn't
been heard before. With 17 tracks, 58 minutes of music, it's a prodigeous release - three tracks have Tony's
vocals, the rest are unique sounding Progressive instrumentals. Most of the drumming on the CD is by King Crimson
drummer Pat Mastelotto, and Crimson fans will hear some tracks here that are reminiscent of the group.

Gorn Levin Marotta (1997) - From The Caves
Gorn Levin Marotta is a band consisting of flutist/saxophonist Steve Gorn, bassist Tony Levin and drummer
Jerry Marotta. Their first and only album, From The Caves Of The Iron Mountain, was recorded inside of a cave,
with the engineer wearing microphones next to his ears, so that when you listen to the album, you feel as
though you are in the cave, complete with splashing water and everything.

Bozzio Levin Stevens (1997) - Black Light Syndrome

serenity in a soundscape of consciousness. Certainly not mainstream. Definitely excellent. This album

Bozzio Levin Stevens (2000) - Situation Dangerous
The hurried nature of this supergroup's first outing, Black Light Syndrome, gave it an urgency and focus that
is somewhat lacking on this release, replaced by a textural density that rewards repeated listening. "Dangerous"
sets the tone with alternating metal and noir sections, complete with Led Zeppelin and Perry Mason quotes.
Former Billy Idol sideman Steve Stevens spices up the proceedings with his signature flamenco influences and
electronic textures, tossing in with some Jeff Beck-like guitar on "Melt." King Crimson bassist Tony Levin
lends the rock-solid bottom that has made him a sought-after session man, but this is clearly Terry Bozzio's
baby. On "Spiral," the former Zappa percussionist spins out of control, bashing and crashing with gleeful
abandon. Elsewhere, his unique cymbal work and melodic toms add personality to otherwise straightforward
compositions.

California Guitar Trio wLevin & Mastelotto (2002) - CG3+2
Since 1998, the California Guitar Trio has regularly toured with expanded versions of the band. The fan
favorite is no doubt the quintet form with King Crimson members Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto. CG3+2
takes the quintet in the studio to record their repertoire. The track list includes a couple new CGT
compositions, jams and studio constructions credited to the whole group, a few more of those incredible
covers the band is known for, and a few old favorites revisited.

Liquid Tension Experiment (1998) - I
LTE is another all-stars-spur-of-the-moment project from "Magna Carta" label. Well, we can see very
familiar faces: Tony Levin (bass, famous not only for King Crimson), Jordan Rudess (keyboards,
ex-Dixie Dregs, Dream Theater, now in Rudess / Morgenstein Project), guitarist John Petrucci, and
drummer Mike Portnoy (both of Dream Theater, not counting their participation in various projects
of that kind).

Liquid Trio Experiment (2007) - Spontaneous Combustion
In October 1998, Liquid Tension Experiment reunited at Millbrook Studios in upstate New York to record their
2nd album. A few days into the sessions, John Petrucci's pregnant wife went into premature labor leaving
Mike Portnoy, Jordan Rudess and Tony Levin stranded in an already set-up and booked recording studio. So
like any creative and productive musicians would do, they decided to stay and JAM...and JAM they did!

Liquid Trio Experiment 2 (2009) - When The Keyboard Breaks
Sometimes great things are born from disastrous circumstances, and “When the Keyboard Breaks” is a perfect
example of this. In the middle of “Universal Mind” during a show on the 2008 Liquid Tension Experiment tour,
Jordan Rudess’s keyboard broke. For those of you who don’t know, LTE is a four piece instrumental progressive
metal group, and the keyboard is a vital part of the sound. Instead of calling it a night or half-assing the
rest of the show, the remaining members of the band begin an impressive hour long jam that’s captured here on CD.
