Heroes for Sale (1933)
DVDRip English
User Rating:8.1/10
Director:William A. Wellman
Genre:Drama
Plot: William Wellman directed this issue-packed depression-era drama in which a wounded ex-doughboy named Tom Holmes (Richard Barthelmess) comes home addicted to the needle. After kicking the morphine addiction--which he suffered as a result of being wounded as a soldier--he befriends a crackpot anarchist. Soon the crackpot makes them both millionaires, but then the real trouble beings. The terrific acting (by Barthelmess, Loretta Young, and Ward Bond) and Wilson Mizner and Robert Lord's ambitious and rewarding script helps make Wellman's HEROES FOR SALE a rewarding look at prewar politics in the 1930s.
