Philippe Rogier (c.1561-1596) was one of the most talented composers in this late generation, and is relatively under-recorded.
Also appearing on this disc are the more obscure figures Georges de la Hèle (1547-1586) and Gerard van Turnhout (c.1520-1580), both predecessors of Rogier as maestro de capilla.

Adrian Willaert (c. 1490 – 7 December 1562) was a Flemish composer of the Renaissance and founder of the Venetian School. He was one of the most representative members of the generation of northern composers who moved to Italy and transplanted the polyphonic Franco-Flemish style there.
