The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over DVD rip DivX





Image Entertainment and Geffen Records jointly released the documentary Hell Freezes Over, built around the Eagles' reunion tour, with DTS sound encoding available. Even the early sections, depicting the participating members (which doesn't include co-founder Rusty Young or Bernie Leadon) reflecting on the decision to reunite for the national tour, are interesting for the song fragments that you get in rehearsal, as well as the short interviews with Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit — a few fan comments and you're suddenly immersed in the group's mostly acoustic rock treatment of "Hotel California," which includes a great acoustic guitar break by Walsh. The camera angles are great, constantly moving you around the stage and all of the shots assembled with a great deal of fluidity. Although the members soon pick up electric instruments, the rest of the concert is a kind of novel approach to the music — even on the full electric numbers such as "Get Over It," they keep the best elements of an "unplugged" performance, holding on to the same close spatial relationship and also capturing the closeness of the members musically. That is made even more clear in the much more intimate "Desperado," which constitutes the 99-minute program's denouement.

Eagles - Hotel California {1995} {Full DVD}


This show starts off mildly but gathers pace as the weather deteriorates. You can see how wet and cold the band are but credit to them, its as if they decide to up the pace and just enjoy the atmosphere.
Don Felder plays on this dvd, his guitar duet with Joe Walsh on Hotel California is brilliant. The reproduction is not too good, probably because of the terrible storm but by the third number, you forget that and get into enjoying the whole thing.
A must for all Eagles fans- good to watch and good to listen to.

Part of The Eagles "Hell Freezes Over Tour" from Christchurch New Zealand November 1995. Unfortunately This is a very dark rainy night on stage, which does nothing for the atmosphere of the show there.Its continually, dark, wet, and raining throughout. However fans of the Eagles will not be dissapointed with the musicianship 19 songs from their repotoire performed with their usual profesionalism and enthusiasm. Features the now ex Eagle-member Don Felder on joint lead guitar with joe walsh, a "treat" on its own. No one can replace Felder in my opinion. Glenn Frey remarks at the end, "our first visit to New Zealand" and "we won't forget Christchurch." {the weather} Worth a watch.

The long-defunct Southern California band regrouped for an album an expensive tour (expensive for ticket buyers that is) and this televised special which features the Eagles in performance. Laid-back but sharp and even stirring during a longish acoustic set the guys quickly get past the nostalgia element and sound truly viable. They even make it look easy: the sight of Joe Walsh wearing glasses and sitting in almost perfect repose as he effortlessly colors old hits "Tequila Sunrise" and new material such as "Learn to Be Still" may make you wonder why you ever stashed that guitar in the attic. But the band eventually gets off their stools and rocks out on "Hotel California" and other Eagles standards. All in all it's an enjoyable and mellowing show. ***********

The DVD is one of the first music releases to feature a DTS format soundtrack in addition to a PCM stereo soundtrack. The DVD also featured the song "Seven Bridges Road" in DTS audio only. The DVD has since been re-released with an additional Dolby Digital soundtrack. The album has also been released as DTS CD in 1997.
