Benny Hill: The Lost Years


On January 15 1955 The Benny Hill Show began its long and groundbreaking run on BBC television. Featuring sketches never broadcast in America this hilarious medley contains vintage material from Benny when his cheeky humor established him as one of England's funniest - and naughtiest - comedians. Filled with riotous musical send-ups fractured fairy tales wacky commercial spoofs and pitch-perfect impressions this collection captures the vast range of one of England's most inspired comics!

The DVD is broken down into three sections – Benny and the Jest; The Good, The Bawd and The Benny; and Bennies From Heaven. Each set is about an hour long, and taken from the comedian's early days on the Benny Hill Show. The shows have been somewhat restored to DVD quality, but there is still the occasional flaw in the image or sound quality. This problem with the picture and sound is mostly due to the age of the film material, but it never becomes such a problem that it takes away from the laughs. There is also a Bonus Benny feature that has 34 minutes of previously unreleased sketches.

production of the show in June 1989, due to declining British audience ratings and
large production costs at £450,000 per show.
