A true classic of police drama's of a bygone era. Enjoy them :D

The Streets of San Francisco is a 1970s television police drama filmed on location in San Francisco, California, and produced by Quinn Martin Productions, with the first season produced in association with Warner Bros. Television (QM produced the show on its own for the remainder of its run), where it starred Karl Malden and Michael Douglas who were both detectives in the San Francisco Bay Area. The show ran for five seasons, between September 16, 1972, and June 9, 1977, on ABC, amassing a total of 120 60-minute episodes. The series started with a pilot movie of the same title (based on the detective novel Poor, Poor Ophelia by Carolyn Weston) earlier in 1972.
he show revolved around two police officers who investigated homicides in San Francisco. The centre of the series was a veteran cop and widower, Lt Mike Stone (Karl Malden), who had more than twenty years of police experience and was now assigned to the Homicide Detail of SFPD's Bureau of Inspectors (ex: Detective Division). He was partnered with a young, plainclothes detective and energetic partner, Assistant Inspector Steve Keller (Michael Douglas), a college graduate, age twenty-eight, who had no experience in the police force. Stone would become a second father to Keller as he learned the rigors and procedures of detective work. Eventually, Keller was promoted to full inspector. As the series went on, Douglas became a star in his own right. Mike's daughter, Jeannie Stone (Darleen Carr), made occasional appearances.

This is a worthwhile enough TV series that never really became a major hit but, ironically enough, most probably played a
part in setting Michael Douglas on the road to superstardom.Karl Malden is a fairly effective leading man,he overacts a
little a few times but he provides a solid basis for the rest of the cast to work from.Douglas himself comes across as
very eager to please, apparently determined to prove he could make it on his own as a credible actor and not just go into
the big time on the basis of being his father's son.As an on screen pair,Malden and Douglas seem to lack much witty banter
and effective rapport, preferring instead to heavy handedly solve cases, which probably explains why the show was never as
big a hit as,say,Starsky and Hutch or Charlie's Angels. But great competence has obviously been put into making it,and it
does,in turn, come off as very professionally made. One would wonder whether the San Francisco setting could be attributable
to the success of the film Dirty Harry at around the time of it's release as well.

San Francisco, city by the bay. Home of cable cars, the Golden Gate Bridge… and murder! The acclaimed police drama The Streets Of San Francisco follows the cases of detective Lt. Mike Stone (Academy Award® winner Karl Malden, A Streetcar Named Desire), a 23-year veteran of the San Francisco Police Department, and his young partner, Inspector Steve Keller (Academy Award® winner Michael Douglas, Wall Street). The smooth, handsome Keller is the perfect foil for the gruff, trenchcoat-wearing Stone. yet what they have in common is they both have no patience for criminals!

While it never achieved the success of such better-known shows as KOJAK or STARSKY AND HUTCH, the Quinn Martin-produced THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO remains one of the highlights of the 1970s television crime-drama boom. The action-packed series also made a star of the then up-and-coming actor Michael Douglas, who, along with Karl Malden, anchored the cast as a father-and-son-like duo of crime-fighting San Francisco police detectives, 20-year veteran Mike Stone (Malden) and his eager rookie partner, Steve Keller (Douglas). Filmed on location in the city by the bay, the series distinguished itself with great acting, intricate storylines, inventive opening credits, and an indelible theme song. This collection presents the show’s second series in its entirety.
