Survivors - the original BBC 1975-77 series created by Terry Nation

If you've watched the 2008 version of this series you'll probably recognize some of the characters and plot lines. Not to say the remake is an exact copy; you'll find the original has different plot twists and personalities enough to make it very good viewing. I think I enjoyed the original more, plus it has a truly silly opening sequence, which is in the sample if you want to see some good old Cold War era propaganda in action!

The original Survivors was an 38 episode drama series which aired on BBC1 between 1975 and 1977. The opening episodes were first broadcast on BBC1 in April 1975 and immediately grabbed the attention and interest of the viewing public. In essence, the series concerns the aftermath of a plague which had wiped out over 99% of the world's population and the experiences of a group of individuals in England as they grappled with the post-plague world and the trials of day-to-day survival.
